An evolving and reactive 3D environment challenging the traditioal concept of a research archive
At the European Cultural Centre in Venice, Italy, The Registry of Itinerant Architectures was launched, captivating audiences with its striking visuals and dynamic environments. This fully online platform pushes the boundaries of digital interactivity, offering a unique 3D experience that functions as an interactive archive. Visitors can access information by pulling tents from a swirling vortex and tracking them to their respective campsites. Each visitor begins the 3D experience in a different location, allowing for a personalised journey through the vast and interactive landscape.
The Registry of Itinerant Architectures serves as an interactive online archive that documents encounters with wild, mobile, fleeting, and unconventional structures across diverse geographic, social, cultural, and political landscapes. Situated at the intersection of interdisciplinary art and architecture practice, it challenges and disrupts traditional architectural experience and record-keeping norms. The Registry features a dynamic blend of moving images, text, and artifacts, all housed in an open-access online environment for instant and ongoing global access.
Visualisation played a crucial role in the conceptual development of Itinerant Architectures interactive archive, leading to the production of three high-quality renders and a short animated film. Motion tracking technology was employed throughout the film to enhance realism, translating real-world movements into the 3D space, and amplifying the sensation of being swept up in a dusty vortex.
Abstract8 values online performance and focused heavily on the optimisation of the 3D archive, ensuring fast and seamless access for visitors worldwide, across all mobile and desktop devices.
