Bigger, brighter, and more spectacular than ever before. ARCHEX 2020's virtual exhibition boasts more than 200 student works on display.
ARCHEX is a student-led exhibition project within the UNSW Masters of Architecture program that showcases the works of final-year Bachelor and Master of Architecture students. Traditionally, ARCHEX has been an in-person event celebrating the hard work of final-year students and providing an opportunity for prospective employers, industry partners, and students from other universities to engage with the showcased work.
At the peak of the pandemic and in-person exhibitions no longer viable, Abstract8 was enlisted to design and develop a virtual exhibition in collaboration with the Masters of Architecture students. The final design features a new multi-storey glowing exhibition hall situated in the heart of the UNSW campus. Each level is dedicated to a specific architecture stream, with the top "sky lounge" serving as a virtual party space for students to celebrate their achievements.
The exhibition was launched through a live stream event hosted by the students, where they welcomed industry partners who also live-streamed in from their offices to join in the festivities.
ARCHEX 2020 was a tremendous success, attracting over 4,000 virtual visitors from more than 57 countries around the world. It stands today as a living archive, accessible to anyone on their mobile, desktop, or VR devices.
