UNSW Luminocity 2020

Luminocity 2020: A Virtual Celebration of Innovation and Creativity in Built Environment Education.

Luminocity 2020 marked a significant milestone as the first-ever fully virtual exhibition commissioned by the University of New South Wales, attracting over 4,000 virtual visitors in its first week. Celebrated as a huge success, the exhibition embraced the theme of opening up during a time when the world was shutting down. It invited prospective students from all over the globe to be part of the exciting future of the UNSW School of Built Environment.

The exhibition showcased top students and their work from across the school, placing them in key locations around Sydney alongside their virtual work, where they could present their new and exciting ideas.

Visitors were able to navigate through the exhibition on all mobile, desktop, and VR headsets. The exhibition was fully immersive, transporting visitors from their living rooms around the world to beautiful sites around Sydney.

Abstract8 worked in collaboration with Dr. Russell Lowe, an artist and senior lecturer in the UNSW School of Architecture, and a pioneer in utilizing game engines to create and explore architecture.

Following the launch of Luminocity 2020 at UNSW Open Day, a 20% increase in student preferences to study in the UNSW School of Built Environment was recorded.
