Archex Unboxed

Innovation on Display: Celebrating UNSW's Aspiring Architects with ARCHEX Unboxed virtual exhibtion.

ARCHEX is a student-led exhibition project within the UNSW Masters of Architecture program that showcases the works of final-year Bachelor and Master of Architecture students. Traditionally, ARCHEX has been an in-person event, celebrating the hard work of final-year students. It also serves as an opportunity for prospective employers, industry partners, and students from other universities to engage with the showcased work.

In a groundbreaking shift, ARCHEX Unboxed was designed and developed from the ground up as a fully online virtual exhibition. Abstract8, in close consultation with the student exhibition team, devised a new vision for ARCHEX Unboxed as a scale-altering experience for visitors. Set in a dawn-like setting inside an upturned cardboard box, the exhibition features terraces that ascend, designating a level for each program stream. The exhibition is filled with references that highlight some of the unique and challenging aspects of architecture school. Visitors can access student work by clicking on their names and explore the streams further by accessing the stream information room.

ARCHEX Unboxed stands as a live archive of student work and has been utilised as a teaching aid and a promotional tool to inspire both current and future students to study at the UNSW Architecture Program.
